Families looking for a November outing in Rutherford County can follow the yellow brick road without leaving downtown Murfreesboro.

The Center for the Arts is bringing The Wizard of Oz to its stage for eight performances over two weekends.

The production opens Friday, November 6, and continues through Sunday, November 15.

The theater is located at 110 West College Street in Murfreesboro.

Opening weekend includes a 7:30 p.m. performance on Friday, November 6, followed by 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. shows on Saturday, November 7, and a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, November 8.

The second weekend repeats that pattern on November 13, 14, and 15.

The familiar story follows Dorothy from her Kansas home into a colorful world where she meets unexpected companions and discovers what home means.

For younger audience members, the production can serve as a first introduction to live theater.

For longtime fans, it offers a chance to revisit a story that has remained popular across generations.

The Center for the Arts has served Murfreesboro for decades through stage productions, visual arts, arts education, and community programs.

Holiday-season calendars fill quickly, and the early-November run offers an option before Thanksgiving activities take over much of the schedule.

Visitors should confirm ticket availability and performance details with the theater before heading downtown.

With both evening shows and weekend matinees, families have several opportunities to fit the production into their plans.
