A Rutherford County nonprofit that helps children maintain safe contact with their families is searching for a new facility under a looming year-end deadline.

Kymari House has operated at 308 North Spring Street in Murfreesboro for 12 years, but the organization has been told it must vacate by December 31.

The organization has not yet secured a replacement property and is asking residents and community partners to share possible locations.

Kymari House provides professionally supervised family visitation on a sliding-fee scale, helping families access a neutral setting when court orders require supervision.

Its work also includes parenting education and services designed to support safe family relationships.

That combination makes the location more than a standard office: staff need multiple private visitation rooms, secure space and areas suited to the needs of parents and children.

Leaders say scheduled programs will continue while the property search goes forward.

The nonprofit is considering both leasing and purchasing options and is also working to expand its reach into Davidson and Williamson counties.

The relocation challenge follows community recognition in which voters selected Kymari House as Rutherford County’s favorite nonprofit in a local awards program.

The immediate need is a workable building, not a pause in services.

Executive Director Emily McKee has emphasized the importance of keeping the organization’s commitments to the families it serves.

A community breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, from 7:45 to 9 a.m. at The View at the Fountains, with donations welcomed.

Residents who know of a suitable property or want to help can contact the organization directly.

For children and parents relying on supervised visits, continuity matters, making this a community story to revisit as the deadline approaches.
