Levy’s Closing Sale Marks End of a Nashville Retail Era |
The 171-year-old family-owned clothier begins its farewell sale in Green Hills on November 3 |

One of Nashville’s longest-running family businesses is preparing to say goodbye after more than a century and a half of serving local shoppers.
Levy’s Clothier, founded in 1855, plans to close permanently in late December after a final sale at its Green Hills store.
The store-closing sale is scheduled to begin Tuesday, November 3, at 3900 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 36.
For generations of Nashville families, Levy’s has been a destination for suits, special-occasion clothing, and the kind of personal service that can be hard to find in a changing retail market.
President and fifth-generation owner David Levy has described the sale as a chance to thank longtime customers and welcome familiar faces before the doors close.
The inventory includes luxury men’s and women’s apparel, outerwear, sportswear, and accessories, with discounts expected to grow during the sale.
Store fixtures and furnishings will also be offered, and all purchases during the closing sale are final.
The in-house tailor shop will continue offering alterations on sale purchases through December 5, with garments to be collected by December 15.
Hours during the sale are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
The closure represents more than another change in Nashville’s shopping landscape.
It marks the conclusion of a five-generation family business that began on downtown Market Street long before Green Hills became a major retail destination.
Customers who have memories connected to the store have a final opportunity to visit and share those stories. |
