Women in Gallatin and surrounding Middle Tennessee communities will have another opportunity to schedule a breast screening on Monday, October 26.

Highpoint Health Imaging for Women at Sumner Station is hosting a Halloween-themed event designed to make routine mammograms more convenient.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 225 Big Station Camp Boulevard in Gallatin.

Organizers say walk-in screening mammograms will be available, with extended hours for people who find daytime appointments difficult.

The program is part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and includes a relaxed atmosphere with refreshments and seasonal activities.

Highpoint Health is also advertising a $99 self-pay screening mammogram special during October for patients using that payment option.

Patients should confirm their individual costs and insurance coverage before the examination.

Screening mammograms are intended for people without breast symptoms as part of routine preventive care.

Anyone experiencing a new lump, discharge or other breast change should contact a healthcare professional about an appropriate diagnostic evaluation instead.

The goal is to make a preventive appointment easier to fit into everyday life, not to substitute a festive event for individualized medical advice.

According to the health system, many insurance plans cover recommended screening services at little or no out-of-pocket cost for eligible patients.

Recommendations about the age to begin screening and how often to repeat it depend on personal risk and professional guidance.

Women with a family history of breast cancer or other concerns should discuss a suitable screening plan with their clinician.

Appointments can be arranged in advance, although the event is also welcoming walk-ins.

The Gallatin office can answer questions about eligibility, availability and scheduling at 615-328-6500.

The essential details are simple: October 26, extended hours and a Gallatin location serving Sumner County residents.

For readers of Senior Connections, sharing the date with a friend or family member could help someone who has been meaning to schedule a routine screening.
